Solid case for tire crumb

Currently end-of-life tires are being recycled with the resultant product used predominantly as fuel at a value of about 2 percent of the original compound cost. This seems a waste of such a valuable hydrocarbon resource. Good quality tire crumb sells at about 10 percent of the original compound cost but addition-levels to tire formulations have traditionally remained below 10 percent of the rubber formulation.
