Tyre makers prepare for EU ban on unlabelled oils from 2010

From the beginning of 2010, every tyre made or sold in Europe will have to contain only unlabelled oils. That is to say it will be illegal to sell or import any tyre containing conventional dae (Distillate Aromatic Extracts) extender oils. These dae oils contain poly aromatic hydrocarbons (pah). Eight pah materials have been classified as carcinogenic, mutagenic and toxic to reproduction, and their use is carefully controlled.
