At the Bellagio Conference on Sustainable Agriculture nearly 30 agriculturalists gathered to share a basic concern: what will benefit people? And at the same time: what will sustain the natural resource base on which agriculture and indeed all human and other life depends? (p. xvii) These are broad and ambitious questions, which resulted in this book.
