An Inside View of the CAP Reform Process. Explaining the MacSharry, Agenda 2000, and Fischler Reforms

As the title makes very clear, the subject of the book is the decision-making process of the Common Agricultural Policy (CAP), using the last three reform processes, namely the MacSharry, Agenda 2000 and the Fischler Reforms, as case studies. This is not the first book that investigates the CAP decision-making process, and surely it will not be the last. However, one interesting feature of the book that adds value for the reader is that the main author, Arlindo Cunha, played an active role in all three reform processes under analysis. Clearly, this offers a precious insider view that can be useful when trying to understand how the CAP decision-making process works in practice. The book is for researchers ?especially in agricultural economics and political science ?and also for policy-makers concerned with how European policy-making works in theory and in practice. Thus, it is a very hot topic given the current stalemate of the EU institutions.
