New National Requirements for Non-prepacked Foods and Sanctions for the Violation of Food Information Requirements

On 9 June 2016 the Portuguese Parliament adopted Decree Law No 26/2016.' This act lays down national requirements in the area of food information to consumers as currently governed by Regulation (EU) No 1169/2011 (hereinafter 'FIC Regulation')2 and namely:a) rules for the provision of food information to consumers in relation to non prepacked foods, in ac cordance with Article 44 par. 1 point b and par. 2 of FIC Regulation (Articles 3-8);b) administrative sanctions for the infringement of food information requirements (Article 11).
