Preparation, characterisation, optical, thermal and electrical properties of lead oxyfluoride glasses of composi-tion xPbO-(1-x)MF_y (where x=90-50, y=1 and6 and M=Li, Na, K_2Ti) have been investigated. These glasses are characterised by powder x-ray diffraction and infrared spectroscopy. Physical properties such as density, refractive index and molar volumes are reported. The optical band gap and Urbach energies for these glasses are obtained from their optical spectra. The dc electrical conductivity of these glasses is relatively higher than oxide glasses and comparable with other oxyfluoride glasses. The dc electrical conductivity measured in the temperature region 425-600 K show that the activation energies lie in the range 1 centre dot 1-1centre dot 6 eV.
