Use of polyurethanes has grown relatively rapidly due to their excellent performance and versatility. Markets, technologies, current and future developments are reviewed. The main emphasis in recent development has been on high solids and waterborne systems, elimination of toxic NMP and the introduction of some higher quality raw materials. For the future, the industry faces many different environmental challenges.
