The 'Natural' Plight of the Bee?

Like the learned Professor Hyland, (Beekeeping Sept 2011) I too am a novice beekeeper, with a conventional national hive and a top bar hive which I decided to run parallel to each other so that I could evaluate the managed method and the natural one.Unfortunately my bees have not read the same books as me nor did they attend the beginners' course, so with a little bit of knowledge and an uncluttered mind as to which method is best I started my beekeeping year.
