Nearly the end of another year and the mild November weather has seen the bees busy flying and still collecting pollen. The hives all seem heavy with stores and well prepared for winter. I found one hive in my home apiary, rather late, to be queenlessand to have laying workers present so on a mild and settled day early in November I removed the hive from its stand and having put another brood box with some built comb within I proceeded to move the colony with laying workers 30m or so away and shakeall the bees from the frames onto the ground. I can almost hear your thoughts. Much too late to carry out this sort of manipulation etc. etc. It will never work.
