AIR POLLUTION AFFECTS WORKERS' PRODUCTIVITY AND THEREBY ECONOMIC OUTCOMES

Recent research summarised in a new report finds better air quality leads to improvements in productivity. Economist, Matthew Neidell, of Columbia University, presents a growing body of evidence indicating that air pollution reduces the production level of workers. Productivity losses start to arise even when levels of air quality are below current pollution thresholds and in sectors ranging from agriculture to manufacturing and the services.
