Many beekeepers regard pollen simply as a source of food for their bees, the protein element that is, as opposed to the carbohydrate element of the bees' diet. But there is much more to pollen than is first recognised by the beekeeper, or indeed, theaverage man in the street for that matter. Let us identify some of the important uses of pollen that have been evolved over time so that we may recognise how vital this precious commodity has become by the early years of the twenty-first century.
