摘要

The Marie Curie Training grant allowed me to visit one of the most renowned European institutions for preclinical imaging, the Centre for Molecular Oncology and Imaging at the Institute of Cancer, Barts and the London School of Medicine and Dentistry. The Nuclear Medicine Research Laboratory, funded by Cancer Research UK, was established by Prof. Steve Mather. A major focus of Prof. Mather's group is the identification of new molecular targets and the development of radiopharmaceuticals for these targets for radionuclide-based diagnosis and therapy of cancer. The laboratory is one of the best equipped facilities for radiopharmaceutical research in the UK. The facilities include hot-labs for the synthesis of PET and SPECT tracers and therapeutic radiopharmaceuticals, as well as laboratories for in vitro evaluation of radiopharmaceuticals. For in vivo evaluation, Professor Mather's lab is equipped with state-of-the-art small-animal imaging modalities: biolu-minescence and fluorescence imaging, PET and SPECT/CT. Most importantly for my visit, the group has extensive expertise with small-animal SPECT/CT, which currently is the main focus of my preclinical studies in Berlin.
