~(123)I-Fluoropropyl-|3-CiT (~(123)I-FP-(3CiT, DaTSCAN) is known to provide a quantitative measure of the dopa-mine transporter in the brain. It has become a useful tracer agent for diagnosis of patients with Parkinson's disease, which is characterised by a selective loss of do-pamine neurons in basal ganglia and substantia nigra [1]. Functional imaging of the nigrostriatal dopamine pathway with ~(123)I-FP-(beta)CIT can also help to distinguish dementia with Lewy bodies from Alzheimer's disease [2]. ~(99m)Tc_TRODAT-l has been developed by Kung et al. as a ~(99m)Tc-labelled alternative to ~(123)I-FP-pCIT [3, 4, 5]. In their search for derivatives of ~(99m)Tc-TRODAT-l with higher brain uptake and improved striatum/cerebellum activity ratio, these authors more recently developed ~(99m)Tc-M-TRODAT.
