Nuclear medicine (NM) is a branch of medicine that uses unsealed radioactive substances for diagnosis and therapy.NM became an independent medical specialty under the European Directives in 1988. The minimum duration of the postgraduate specialized training in the European Union is 4 years, but may be extended beyond this period according to the requirements for training in other clinical disciplines.Candidates for specialized training should have a good general background in internal medicine.
