As ethanol plants look for ways to extract more value from distillers grains, the nutritional value of the byproduct is changing. It's been said that the more things change, the more they stay the same. While that may be true in many cases, the opposite happens when the item that's changing is a byproduct such as distillers grains (DGs). Indeed, for cattlemen who use distillers grains as a proteinand energy supplement for cows or stockers, or in feed-yard rations, changes in the nutrient profile of the byproduct could well be a game changer.
