A report on the EANM contribution to the International Conference on Quality Assurance and New Techniques in Radiation Medicine (QANTRM) in Vienna, Austria, 13-15 November 2006

"Quality assurance for quality care" could be said to have been the objective of this conference, organised by the IAEA in Vienna. The conference addressed quality assurance (QA) within several disciplines, such as radiation oncology, nuclear medicine, diagnostic radiology, medical radiation physics education and professional training, data management and storage, and public health for vulnerable population groups. It provided an opportunity to discuss the importance of QA in applications involving the use of ionising radiation in medicine in order to maximise the benefits and rninirnise the risks.
