With faster automotive development and increased complexity in related technologies, vehicle evaluation in testing laboratories became more necessary and important. Chassis dynamometers conducting automotive tests on an assembled vehicle at a testing laboratory are required to assure capabilities for highly accurate acceleration work and speed-change actions in order to obtain highly consistent test data. Accordingly, the importance of drive robots is high in order to realize such actions in place of human drivers. The Drive Robot TYPE-i presently developed has outstanding features such as the capability of fitting nicely into existing facilities and a mobile unit to be used on a bench among several test benches. Compared with our conventional products, the new robot system offers greatly improved usability for customers.
