Toyo Engineering has been awarded a contract for a 110,000 ton/yr dimethyl ether (DME) plant by the Luthianhua Group Inc, based in Luzhou, Sichuan Province, China. The DME plant will be part of the Sichuan West Chemical City Development project. It will be the world's largest DME plant for fuel use. Toyo's scope includes licensing, process design, catalysts delivery and technical service. Completion is scheduled for the first quarter of 2005. The Luthianhua Group is also constructing, with Toyo's participation, a 450,000 ton/year methanol plant and a 25,000 ton/yr butanediol plant. It is successfully operating a 10,000 ton/yr DME plant, which was completed in August 2003.
