For 1999 the accounts of the EEA show an overall surplus of is not an element of 143 587. compared to a surplus of 118 270 in 1998. The surplus of the Berlin conference, was entered as a claim of C 49 687 in the 1998 accounts, contributing thereby to an already very high surplus in 1998. In fact, we received 85 793 in February 2000 as Berlin had underestimated the surplus and made a tax contingency that was not used. This generated an extraordinary gain of is not an element of 36 106 in 1999. 2. The Santiago conference generated a gain of 6 761. 3. Contributions by institutional members in 1999 were 43 136, compared to is not an element of 27 147 in 1998. 4. Revenue from membership fees increased in 1999 to 131 880, up from is not an element of 106 983 in 1998. New memberships subscribed in Santiago produced is not an element of 26 710, compared to is not an element of 20 107 in Berlin. A big factor for this increase was the receipt in 1999 of C 16 556 for for memberships string in 2000. 5.
