Transformation of nickel compounds in the plow horizon of soddy-podzolic soil under conidtions of two moistening regimes (50 and 100% of field capacity) and upon application of lime,peat,and glucose was studied.Incubation of moistened soils for 30 days resulted in an increase in the conten tof nickel compounds (water-soluble,exchangeable,bound to organic matter,and bound to amorphous iron hydroxides).The content of nickel related to crystallized iron compounds decreased by two times at a moisture content equal to 50% of field capacity and by four times at a moisture content of 100% of filed capacity.Nickel content in the residual fraction decreased by 25 and 50%,respectively.Nickel transformation in soils was closely related to the transformation of iron and manganese compounds and to the development of oxidation-reduction processes.The lowest PH and redox potential and the highest nickel mobilization were recored at soil incubation with glucose upon soil moistening of 100% field capacity.
