Amiodarone use in therapeutic hypothermia following cardiac arrest due to ventricular tachycardia and ventricular fibrillation.

We read with interest the case report by Richter et al demonstrating prolongation of the corrected QT interval (QTc), the presence of Osborn waves, and multiple episodes of ventricular fibrillation (VF) during therapeutic hypothermia following out-of-hospital cardiac arrest. The article reinforces the importance of appreciating the potentially arrhythmogenic effects of therapeutic hypothermia.
