Changes in the Soil Cover as a Result of Desertification

摘要

Changes in soil properties and the soil cover of the northwestern Cspian region under the impact of desertification are considered. Particular mechanisms of desertification processes and regularities of soil deg-radation are outlined. The specificity of desertification in mountain regions is discussed. It is sugg4sted that the term "arid degradation" can be applied to desertification processes in the mountains.
