Tesco commits to Thai produce

Eurofruit Magazine talks to the man behind Tesco's Thai produce development initiative, Johnathan Sutton. UK retail giant Tesco has expanded rapidly since opening its first store in Thailand in 1998, in partnership with Thai firm CP Group. Its joint venture, Tesco Lotus, has become the country's largest food retailer, operating some 370 stores. From Thailand, Tesco sources over 25 product lines for its global network, including seasonal fruits mangosteen, lychee, rambutan and longan, as well as manyvegetable lines such as babycorn, asparagus, chillies, organic vegetables and ready-to-cook packs.
