摘要

Nowadays lubricants are mainly based on hydrocarbons. Taking into consideration that world's total lubricant production is many millions of tons, we may assert that the production and use of lubricants impacts negatively on the environment. This is why, it is opportune to use vegetable oil products and wastes arising from its processing, which have almost 100% biodegradation, as raw materials for production of lubricants. For a long time vegetable oils have been used as lubricants for mechanical processing of metals, however, for deformational processing of stainless steel and special alloy materials the bearing capacity (critical load (P_c) of lubricant layer destruction) of vegetable oils turns out to be insufficient. That is why, there is the necessity to improve the lubricity of vegetable oils by their modification using appropriate functional additives. Use of imported additives are limited by their high cost, so the development of domestic highly effective additives is a pressing problem.
