The wide field of tribological characteristics of high performance greases, destined for various specified applications, is researched systematically. The ratings of these greases according to the respective groups of tribological characteristics are formed and analyzed. The depth profiles of elements through the tribochemical surface layers on steel friction surfaces are studied for explanation of rating peculiarities of the greases.
