Different offices, same focus on quality at VLAM: Under the Flandria production label, Belgian producers are unveiling new products and pinpointing fresh markets, while retaining the same attention to quality

FROM the high-tech security systems on the ground floor to the 'clean desk' policies championed upstairs, VLAM's new headquarters are strikingly modern. "This is a fresh start," explains Leen Guffens, VLAM's communications manager, from her office inthe company's new headquarters in Brussels. "The old building was... old." From here, VLAM, the Flanders' Agricultural Marketing Board, which is responsible for the promotion of Belgian produce throughout the world, intends to spread the word about its Flandria production label and the inherent quality of the Flanders region. "We want to ensure that every buyer of fresh fruit and vegetables in the whole of Europe knows that Flandria is the continent's largest fruit and vegetable label and that Flandersequals good quality," Ms Guffens told Eurofruit Magazine. Flandria is indeed the biggest label in Europe, acccounting for approximately 700,000 tonnes of fruit and vegetables exported annually.
