The 18th World Congress of Soil Science was held in the United States in Philadelphia (Pennsylvania) on July 9 to 16, 2006. More than 2000 participants from 105 countries, including nearly 400 students and postgraduates, attended the congress. The largest number of participants (981) were from the United States; 103 participants were from Japan; 70, from Australia; and 67, from Germany. The Russian delegation (26 participants) ranked fifteenth.
