Abu Ghannam leads way in strawberry production: The company is hoping to build on the success it has enjoyed over the past year by doubling its production area

ABU Ghannam Farms is the recognised leader in Jordanian strawberry production. One of only two farms in the whole country to be EurepGap compliant, it has its own cooling and packing facilities on site and can ensure a gap of just three hours betweenfruit picking and pallets arriving in refrigerated trucks at Jordan's Queen Alia International Airport to catch a Royal Jordanian flight. The farm currently covers 15ha in the Jordan Valley, spread over three sites, but its manager, Khalil Abu Ghannam, has ambitious plans to double its area. "We'll add 5ha a year and take it from there," he says.
