Doniis continues rapid rise to prominence in Europe: With cherry production set to double this year and export volumes rising by around 50 per cent, the Turkish company plans to extend its reach to new markets

TURKISH exporter Doniis has enjoyed a dramatic rise to prominence in the last two years, with rapidly improving sales in key markets such as Germany, Italy and France bolstered by huge increases in production of its main variety, Napolyon. Following a60 per rise in volumes in 2004, the company is confident that new plantings will boost its export crop this year to around 8,000-9,000 tonnes. "Production will be double last year's figure and, compared to 2004, our exports are going to be around one and a half times greater," reveals Hasan Olgun, Doniis' general coordinator. "This season we have surrounded ourselves with all the necessary resources in order to export this amount."
