Proexport reaffirms quality mantra as competition bites

The Murcian exporter association has worked tirelessly to encourage the implementation of quality assurance schemes through its PICA programme. WITH 43 member companies who between them control more than 75 per cent of Murcia's fruit and vegetable exports, Proexport is the region's leading horticultural association. Its president, Miguel Duran Granados, talks to Eurof ruit Magazine about the challenges facing the region's fruit and vegetable exporters and the important role played by Proexport in raising quality standards within the sector. Last year was a difficult one for Murcian exporters, characterised by low prices in key products such as tomatoes and peppers and a steep rise in production costs.
