Assessment of the critical state of erodible soils and the risk of soil degradation from erosion

Models that are based on the theory of Markov's processes make it possible to predict the critical state of erodible soils and the development of their degradation from erosion. These characteristics are important for the elaboration of proper mitigation measures. It is stressed that the damage from catastrophic erosion is several orders of magnitude higher than the damage from moderate erosion.
