Unifrutti to continue with planting project: Chile's third largest exporter is concentrating on the development of its Copiapo grape planting project this year

UNIFRUTTI will spend 2005 planting more vines on the 300 ha grape project that it embarked upon last season in Copiapo in northern Chile. Located high in the Copiapo Valley, the company's new farm aims to produce the earliest grapes out of Chile, witha range of varieties that will be available for export from the beginning of November. Meanwhile, a second new area is being planted with apples in the south of the country. "All efforts will be placed on our planting scheme this year," says German Illanes, marketing director for the Far East and northern Europe at Unifrutti. "This is an essential part of Unifrutti's strategy for the coming years."
