The Fourth International Conference on Cryopedology (Arkhangelsk- Pinega, August 1-8, 2005)

On August 1-8, 2005, the Fourth International Conference Devoted to Permafrost-Affected Soils was held in Arkhangelsk. The three previous conferences on cry-opedology were held in Russia and Denmark (Push-chino, 1992; Syktyvkar, 1997; Copenhagen, 2001). For the fourth time, soil scientists studying northern, high-mountain, and Antarctic soils met in Russia again, in the cities of Arkhangelsk and Pinega (Arkhangelsk oblast), where the field excursion took place. This time, the conference was held under the motto "Cryogenic Soils: Origin, Ecology, and Use."
