Berry Exchange broadens horizons: Australia's leading blueberry producer is spreading its wings overseas with a plantation in Morocco and moves to licence production of its own varieties in the Americas
Several dozen members of Australia's blueberry industry murmur as the bus crests the hill and another field of fruiting bushes appears. The bus has already bumped past hectares upon hectares of blueberry bushes, some in the final stages of flowering, some already weighed down with a dusky crop. The field is part of one of the biggest blueberry farms in the Southern Hemisphere, with 280ha under production and accounting for the majority of Australia's export of the fruit. The industry figures are there for a tour of the farm, from retailers with an eye on supply to other growers there to compare techniques.
