A timely shot in the arm

The New Zealand government and Zespri have announced a funding boost worth some NZ$35.7m over seven years for research and development of new kiwifruit varieties. New Zealand kiwifruit research has been given a leg-up with an announcement by the country's Minister of Research Science and Technology Dr Wayne Mapp in early November that funding would be increased to NZ$35.7m (EURl7.2m) over the next seven years.
