Subsole finds good outlet for avocados in EU: Europe is proving to be a promising market for Chile's avocado suppliers.

A TOUGH 2007 avocado market for most of Chile's export firms turned out to be 'quite satisfactory' for Subsole S.A., Chile's fifth-ranked avocado export firm. "We sent more fruit than ever before to the EU market this season, which turns the traditional avocado export paradigm on its head," explains Subsole genera I director Miguel Alia ma nd. "Chileans normally send most of their fruit to the US market, but business there is aettina more and more difficult because North America is flooded not just with Chilean fruit, but also with , fruitfrom Mexico which can now be shipped alloverthe US, including California. The US market will have to adjust to absorb more avocados, so we had to seek out alternatives. And we chose Europe a few years ago."
