EU/MEDITERRANEAN STATES: FARMERS SET OUT PRIORITIES FOR AGRICULTURAL CO-OPERATION

A delegation of the Mediterranean Committee of the International Federation of Agricultural Producers (IFAP) has paid a visit to European Agriculture and Fisheries Commissioner Franz Fischler and the Chairman of the European Parliament's Agriculture Committee, Joseph Daul, to explain to them their positions on future co-operation in the field of agriculture on the two shores of the Mediterranean Basin with a view to creating a free trade area by 2010, These meetings with the Commission and the Parliament enabled representatives of the Euromed agricultural organisations to put forward their points of view on the role of agriculture in the Mediterranean region and the possible means of co-operation, with a view to re-launching the Euro-Mediterranean partnership, especially in the wake of the first meeting of Euromed Agriculture Ministers on November 27 in Venice.
