ENLARGEMENT: TRANSITIONAL ARRANGEMENTS FOR BANANA IMPORTS PRESENTED

EU Member States voted on April 16 in the EU Banana Management Committee to accept a European Commission proposal to introduce transitional measures for banana imports into the ten new EU Member States after they join the EU on May 1. Finland reportedly abstained. The Commission must now formally adopt the Regulation, which it is expected to do during the week beginning April 19.
