Symposium 3: Diagnosis and treatment of the squamous cell carcinoma of the upper aerodigestive tract based on the concept of aerodigestive tract based on the concept of the 'field cancerization' phenomenon

摘要

Multiple development of squamous cell carcinoma and preneoplastic epithelium in the head and neck (H&N) region and the esophagus has been explained by the concept of the field cancerization phenomenon for more than 50 years. Recent results of the investigation for the risk factor for this phenomenon and the technological break through in the early detection have opened a new door in this field. Furthermore, these results make it possible to treat the patients at high risk less-invasively. In this symposium, several active discussions were made from the various fields, such as epidemiology, risk factor, early detection and treatment strategy and the methods.
