Land Registry Privatisation and Environmental Regulations

The proposed privatisation of the Land Registry which has been out to consultation and has not found many supporters might run up against the Environmental Information Regulations. If the Land Registry service were outsourced or passed (other than the IP rights in the database) so new owners much of the information in areas such as boundaries and covenants concerning registered land may have to be made available to the public free of charge.
