Rural structures as tools of production: a diverse urbanistic approach.

The value of economic, social and cultural resources of rural territories, and regional activities in Tuscany, Italy, aimed at protection of the environment, and promotion and transformation of land resources are discussed. An inspirational approach adopted in the Figline Valdarno community dealing with agricultural buildings as tools of production, and developing purpose-built, easily movable structures blending into the environment, is considered. Illustrations are included of buildings for temporary use, such as functional wooden structures for housing of calves and poultry. Regulations included in the urbanistic legislation of the Figline Valdarno community related to construction of light functional structures for agricultural use are outlined.
