Some less known medicinal uses of plants among Dimasa tribe of Barak Valley, Assam (North-east India)

Ethnic people are the source of all the indigenous knowledge and even today, some miraculous medicines are known to the tribal communities. Dimasa tribe is rich in indigenous knowledge about use of plants in the treatment of various ailments. In the present paper 32 less known medicinal plants belonging to 20 families, which are used by the Dimasa tribe of Barak Valley are reported alphabetically with their botanical names, parts used, methods of preparation and medicinal uses. These uses seem unknown or less known at least for this region. It was observed that the Dimasa preferred to use aerial parts for the purpose of conservation and they use roots/rhizomes only when unavoidable.
