Ethnodermatologically significant plants used by traditional healers of Wayanad district, Kerala

摘要

Wayanad district of Kerala is the homeland of various tribal and non-tribal communities practising traditional systems of medicine. The details of the medicinal plants of ethnodermatological significance used by rural and tribal communities for the treatment of skin diseases and related problems have been studied. The study revealed that 62 species of flowering plants are used to cure the skin diseases. Various plants and plant-parts are used for the preparation of medicines. In many cases, a singleplant can cure more than one disease. In some cases, a single disease can be cured with more than one plant.
