At the very southern end of California's San Joaquin Valley, near Bakersfield, sets a rolling, rocky cattle ranch. Bordered by mountains it once was a lush productive citrus orchard, complete with it's own water supply. But years-ago freezes finished fruit production, and today there's not a tree of any kind in sight.
