Regional collaboration in healthcare: a view from a health care initiative for people with epilepsy in rural areas of China.

摘要

China, like most other low- and middle-income countries (LAMICs), has major issues in delivering health care to its people, even considering that it has relatively good resources (such as number of beds and number of medical personnel per thousand people) when compared to other LAMICs. "Difficult-to-find medical treatment" and "Cannot afford the medical costs" are the two main problems faced by Chinese people, particularly in remote rural areas in China. The main reason for these problems is the imbalance in the distribution of limited resources, which tend to be excessively dispensed in large cities and large health care facilities (Mills et al., 2006).
