摘要

Nickel hydroxide suitable for nickel based rechargeable batteries was prepared by electrochemical precipitation technique from commercial grade nickel sulphate, a byproduct of a cobalt plant. The influence of parameters such as initial nickel and nitrate concentration, pH and current density on the quality of nickel hydroxide produced during preparation is discussed. The maximum discharge capacity of 170 mAh/g was obtained for nickel hydroxide, which is suitable for the battery industry. The physico-electrochemical characterization of the nickel hydroxide prepared was carried out and the details are presented in this paper.
