For car drivability evaluation, we developed a new flat belt type chassis dynamometer. Since a steel belt is adopted for the chassis dynamometer, the tread surface between the tire and chassis dynamometer is made flat. We can perform the test under the condition that there is no tire condition change due to the roller curvature. The maximum vehicle speed is set at 200km/h so that this equipment is applicable to any vehicle testing ranging from Japanese light duty vehicle "Kei cars" to passenger cars. Since the belt units of the right and left wheels are made independent of each other, the mechanical configuration allows the differential control of the right and left wheels.
