摘要

The aim of the present work is a study of the way the carbon grains diameters and content as well as the melt composition influence the voltage drop in cryolite-alumina melts. Five types of electrolyte compositions and four different size fractions of carbon grains were used for the measurements. The results have shown that the carbon particles suspended in the electrolyte cause an increase in the inter-electrode voltage drop. The voltage drop increases with the growth of the carbon dust content in the melt as well as with the carbon grain diameters decrease.
