The exciting story of natural gas and its remarkable contribution to Europe's primary energy portfolio started in the 1970s.Major gas discoveries in the Netherlands and Germany laid the base for the new energy source.Especially the giant reservoir Groningen in the Netherlands,with its excellent geological conditions helped to quickly establish natural gas as an additional energy source to meet the energy demands of a rapidly growing European economy.
