The Conversion of heavy pyrolysis gasoline into valuable steamcracker feedstock with a maximum yield of C_2-C_4 n-alkanes is achieved via a two step process. The first step involves a hydrogenation of aromatics to naphthenes followed by the sub-sequent ring opening and cracking in the second step.
